This listing is for a brand new 1986-88 Worlds of Wonder Generation 2 Teddy Ruxpin. It has the plastic tape deck and hard plastic tip nose. Most of them did. However, this particular unit has gear to gear mesh servo motors instead of the pully type servo motors. In all my years of collecting and refurbishing Teddy's, I've NEVER seen a Teddy with a hard plastic tip nose and gear to gear mesh motors. There are signs that this unit may have began life as a metal tape deck unit (gear to gear mesh motors were on early G2 plastic deck Teddy's with the soft rubber tip nose and also on all the G1 metal tape deck Teddy's which also had the soft rubber tip nose). Also, this Teddy has the battery direction insert that doesn't feature the red or black lettering that states: Alkaline batteries recommended which is almost always found on plastic tape deck Teddy's. As nice as this unit is (and unique), I thought about keeping it for myself. But, I already have a Generation 3 in my personal collection and don't really need 2 bears. It is in new unused condition and the hang tag is still attached to the back of his vest. There are no rips, stains, tears, pet hair or smoke odors. As with every single unit I sell, the battery case is clean and free of any corrosion. The tape deck was recently serviced and a new drive belt and pinch roller have been installed and the tape deck cleaned. It works perfectly. Sounds loud and clear. There is no skipping nor dragging in the playback. Picture #10 shows the old worn out stretched drive belt that was removed on the left and the brand new perfectly circular drive belt and pinch roller on the right that were installed. I've included a link at the bottom of this listing to show this Teddy in action and working. The box is in excellent condition with minor wear. The original book, tape, paperwork, and instructions are all present and in excellent condition. Bonus included are 2 extra tapes: Sign of a Friend and Love Songs. Also included is a Gutang poseable figure. This is the last one I'll have this season. I'll have a loose complete perfect working Generation 3 with a refurbished tape drive in used condition after the Holiday's, but that will be the last unit I'll have until at least the next Holiday season.
